  • A Writing Room retreat and The Writing Room community (via the app) has been exactly what I’ve needed to focus on my memoir. The daily prompts, silent writing sessions, shared experiences, and continued support have all helped me prioritize my writing and take my work way more seriously. In some ways, the pace was better for me virtually than it might have been in-person, if that makes sense. I didn't get the same intensity overload, because I was able to pace myself. I went to dinner the first day with three women I met at my table. One was already active on Substack and shared her experience with the rest of us. I committed that evening to launching a Substack channel and publishing that week. I returned home, and I did just that! A month later, I have made four substantial posts, and feel motivated to continue weekly. I am still in contact with the women from that dinner and we encourage each other. I never dreamed that this event would lead to my publishing my work so rapidly, nor help me identify the perfect vehicle to “stop not writing.”

The in-person retreat takes place in the heart of Hollywood at the Loews Hollywood Hotel on October 25-27th. Full instructions for finding this location will be emailed after registration.

The live broadcast of all general sessions can be accessed from wherever you are via Zoom technology.
You’ll immediately receive a payment confirmation email and a separate email with instructions, depending upon whether you registered for the in-person or virtual experience.

Please be sure that you have used your best email AND check your spam or Promotions folder if you don’t immediately receive your confirmation and instructions. Sometimes it can take a few minutes for the email to arrive.

If you don’t find your confirmation, don’t panic! We’ll help you get it resolved and make sure that you can attend. You can send a message through the Support form (below) or emails us at support@awritingroom.com and we’ll respond as quickly as possible.

It’s very important that you use your best email address as this is how we will communicate before, during, and after the retreat with your instructions, links, and the follow-up to provide your access to the video replays.
Any kind! Writers of all skill levels (even total beginners) are welcome. If you would like to make your writing dreams and goals a reality, this is for you. If you're a seasoned writer ready for the next level of your writing journey, this is for you.
Each live session will be recorded and all registered guests will be given full access to the video replays after the event has ended.

We welcome our friends from all time zones and regions of the world and will seek to offer ways for you to connect as often as possible.

You will also have access to these video replays for up to 12 months at no extra charge.
Almost any smartphone, PC, or tablet will work. The membership workshops and online sessions are delivered via Zoom and Youtube. Video replays can be viewed on any computer or mobile device.
All workshops (except Silent Writing sessions) will be recorded and made available for streaming replay after the retreat has ended.

If you're attending in-person, you will also receive links to attend the workshops virtually in case you need to take a break and watch from the comfort of your hotel room.
For all live events (both virtual or in-person tickets), we ask that you plan carefully, verify your availability and check your calendar before purchasing.

We do not offer refunds for any virtual or in-person tickets, as our agreements with the speakers and presenters rely on strong attendance.

If you need to convert your in-person ticket to a virtual ticket, you can do so up to 60 days before the event begins and we will credit you back the difference. Once we are within 60 of the retreat's start date, no refunds or credits can be issued.

For physical products (such as books, journals, etc.), we offer full money-back refunds if the product is returned in sale-able condition within 30 days of purchase.
Yes! When you go through the registration process, please use your gift recipient’s email address so that they will receive instructions.

Our retreat is being hosted at the gorgeous Loews Hollywood Hotel, so we recommend booking your hotel at Loews.

Upon registration, we will email you with links and information on recommended accommodation. You are also free to arrange your own lodging with AirBnB or local hotels that best suit your needs and budget.

Full meals are not included, however an assortment of refreshments will be available each day of the retreat for all attendees. Two meal breaks will be provided every day, there are several restaurants both in the hotel and in the surrounding area.

Valet parking is available for overnight guests at Loews for $55 plus tax, which includes in and out privileges. For those driving in, valet at Loews is $25 plus tax for up to 10 hours.

For self-parking in the Ovation lot (which is adjacent to Loews), there rates are $2 every 20 minutes, or $20 daily maximum
